The Picts were a group of Celtic people who lived in Northern Scotland during the Early Middle Ages. Pictish symbols were based on tattoos the Pictish tribes that had many symbolic or magical properties. These symbols were transferred onto mundane before finally ending up on symbol stones. This design is based on the Class 1 symbol stone from Newton House in Aberdeenshire and dated to around the 6th century. It is found on several Pictish stones, but its exact meaning is unknown. It is believed to represents wisdom, healing, or new life and beginnings.
